Report of the Cultural & Scientific trip to Greece

A meeting was held at Greek National Center for Social Research attended by Gianna Athanasopouo, the Honorable head of the Center and his honorable deputy from the National research institute of Greece as well as Ms. Maryam Toosi, the Honorable Secretary to Iranian Construction Entrepreneurs Society and Mr. Seyed Amir Hejazi, Member of Entrepreneurship Teamwork and Manager of Legal Department of Austria Iran Chemical Association for the purpose of the development of diplomatic research efforts conducted by the parties on public diplomacy and extension of effective relationships between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Greece as the two outstanding representatives of western and Iranian-Islamic cultures for the purpose of laying down a system for sustainable development of relations between the two countries in public diplomacy sector. The discussed agenda was common collaboration, cooperation and synergic steps to be taken by civil institutions of the both parties in line with diplomatic studies and researches as well as international researches in the territory of EU and the geostrategic Middle East Regions in which Iran is one of the leading countries. The content of the issues discussed in the meeting was, among others, development of scientific and research efforts of both parties. Also the managers of Greek National Center for Social Research were invited to Iran to promote the relationship between NGO’s of the both countries into a fruitful level. Also it was noted that Iran has five million university students now studying at the higher education centers of the country and has a high potential for research and study. Also the international ranking of Iran in chemistry and nanochemistry was pointed out and we stated the sectors in which the researchers of both countries can start and conduct their studies. Also the manner of utilization of potentials of EU for development of relationships between the people in Iran and EU and public diplomacy in the light of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) were discussed. In line with this, in a journey to Athena, Greece on Wednesday, July 19th, 2017, sponsored by Austria Iran Chemical Association, the Secretary of Entrepreneurship Work Group of Urban Economy Cooperative of Tehran City accompanied with another member of the Workgroup conducted some meetings with Greek Minister of Agricultural Development and Food and his honorable deputy, as a member of EU. The experts and advisors from the Ministry of Agriculture Development and Food, especially the Honorable Deputy to Minister Agriculture Development and Food, Mr. Vasileios Kokkalis, warmly received the representatives of Iranian NGO’s and entrepreneurs. Ms. Maryam Toosi, the Honorable Secretary to Iranian Construction Entrepreneurs Society, presented Iranian confectionary products to the Honorable Deputy to Minister of Agricultural Development and Food as a souvenir which is a common custom of Iranians in their dealings with other parties. Also it was a symbol of fruitful cooperation between the both parties and as a memory of good and warm cooperation. Mr. Vasileios Kokkalis stated that he has had visits with Iranian Minister of Agriculture, Mr. (Engineer) Hojjati, in the past and hopes to meet him in Iran in November again. The entrepreneurs and experts of the both parties pointed out the ancient civilization and history of the both countries, Iran and Greece, which is a good ground for establishment and development of economic relations and ties between entrepreneurs form the two countries as well as with the EU, especially in the light of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Based on statement made by Iranian Foreign Minister, Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, in a speech delivered in UNESCO meeting, the public diplomacy will be realized through NGO’s in line with sustainable development and this is the mission of NGO’s and entrepreneurs of Iran to utilize the common cultural and civilization ties for laying down sustainable ties and relationship in other sectors. These efforts are undertaken by NGO’s utilizing the budget funded by non-governmental sources and focused on social aspects of relationships. We also would like to take the advantage of the opportunity to express our deep thanks to Mr. Majid Shabestari (the Esteemed Ambassador of the I. R. of Iran in Athena) and Mr.Dr.Abdolreza Azizi (Chief of the social commission of the parliament of Iran) who encouraged us and provided spiritual supports for us in our efforts in connection with public diplomacy and helped us in establishment relationship with Greek and EU NGO’s. We also noted the supports we received from the Embassy of I. R. of Iran in Athena in our meeting with the Honorable Minister of Agricultural Development and Food of Greece, Mr. Vasileios Kokkalis. The deputy of Iranian Public Mission for Legal Affairs, Mr. Amir Hejazi, insisted on the constructive potential relationships between Greece and Iran, especially in agriculture, food security and rural development sectors in which the both parties have a lot of valuable experiences for exchange with each other. Mr. Vasileios Kokkalis stated that he is so glad to have a journey to Iran and will use this opportunity to have meetings with members of Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Iran, i.e. representatives of Iranian tradesmen and importers. Our mission provided some advice to the Greek Minister in connection with establishment relationship with the representatives of Iranian public and private sectors.
